Learning From the Bees Conference

We are so pleased to announce that several of us from PBC will be attending and presenting at this conference, which we feel will be an  international watershed moment for bees.

31st August to 2nd September
Netherlands 2018

“We feel the time has come to acknowledge the honeybee’s place in this world as a creature worthy of respect and protection in its own right. Instead of putting beekeepers needs first, we have to ask ourselves what the bees will need from us to safeguard their future. How can the bees’ natural behaviour inspire the way we shape and conserve (agricultural) landscapes as well as our beekeeping practices, if any. In short, how can we learn from the bees?

This event ‘Learning from the Bees’ will be the first of its kind – bringing together natural beekeepers, scientists, nature conservationists, artists and bee-lovers from all over the world. We will gather with the aim of building an international network that will:

build and share knowledge building on the latest scientific research and practical experience
share inspiration and learn from initiatives and projects, from grassroot to policy level
take steps towards creating an international association ‘Learning from the Bees’ that will work to protect bees and champion their interests.

Learning from the Bees will consist of a ‘meet, greet and inspire’ event where bee-centered initiatives can meet up, present their projects and share information and knowledge. The outlines of the future ‘ Learning from the Bees’ association will be presented and discussed.

Plenary addresses by keynote speakers about health and resilience of bees and habitats, wild bees as well as human-bee relationships will be followed by a wide range of Parallel Sessions, each with a panel of speakers, to address specific themes in short presentations followed by discussion.

Catering during the event will be 100% organic. We are looking forward to meeting you next summer in Doorn, The Netherlands!” #beeconference2018
